Megan Benedek Director and CEO

Megan Benedek is the founder of Benedek Lewin. Megan was admitted as a barrister in Lincoln’s Inn in 1996 and in Bermuda in 1997. She is also a Notary Public. Megan’s practice includes advising and representing clients in all types of commercial disputes.

Simon Benedek

Simon Benedek qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1996 and worked in the City of London for many years before moving to Bermuda in 2005. Simon was admitted to the Bermuda Bar in 2006 and as a solicitor in the BVI in 2005. Simon has a wealth of experience in the field of banking and finance having been counsel at Appleby Bermuda and a partner at White & Case Budapest’s office in 2007 to 2008. Simon practices in all areas of banking, finance and corporate law specializing in all aspects of banking. Simon has a wide and diverse investment funds practice advising start up and seasoned funds on all aspects of their business.

Simon is also a member of the Banks and Deposit Companies Appeals Tribunal.

Declan McKervey Head of Property

Declan has lived and worked in Bermuda for many years having been admitted to the Bermuda Bar in 2000. Declan has a wealth of property experience and a wide set of contacts throughout the industry. He heads up the Property Team for both Residential and Commercial Property transactions and provides comprehensive advice to both local and international clients. As a well seasoned conveyancing attorney, Declan has been involved in a large number of major property developments in Bermuda over the years, acting for a diverse range of clients including banks and other lenders and hotel and condominium developers amongst others.

Peter Sanderson Head of Litigation

Peter’s practice covers all areas of civil and commercial litigation. He has a growing reputation for advising on complex legal issues and securing meaningful results for clients. He is always mindful of the importance of managing the costs and risks of litigation.
Peter has advised clients on areas of law such as:

His cases have been reported in leading international journals, including Law Reports of the Commonwealth and West Indian Reports. He has been recognised by the Chambers Guide.

Peter has been instructed in cases that have been appealed to the Privy Council. He is qualified to appear before the Privy Council in matters from any jurisdiction.

Peter has been called to the Bar of England and Wales (not practising) and the Bermuda Bar.

Stephen Males Counsel

Stephen Males was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2003 and to the Ontario Bar in 2013. Stephen worked for seven years within the Property Department of Appleby, Bermuda before relocating to Toronto in 2010. Stephen practices in all areas of property law

Caleb Crockwell Associate

Caleb Crockwell is an Associate in the Corporate Department of Benedek Lewin where he is involved in a wide range of transactional matters and has particular interest in Insurance Law.

Prior to joining Benedek Lewin, Caleb worked at Harneys Bermuda Limited where he was a litigation paralegal working on a complex document discovery project before commencing, and after training in the corporate department, completing his pupilage.

Caleb has completed internships at the Ministry of Justice, Attorney General’s Chambers, Magistrates Court, House of Assembly and the Bank of N.T. Butterfield and Son Limited.

Caleb is a member of the Bermuda Bar and is Secretary to the Incorporated Segregated Accounts Working Group Committee.

William White Director and CFO

Lt Col (Retired) William White is Benedek Lewin’s CFO and brings accounting and leadership experience to the firm, and ensures that our systems work with military discipline. William White is the President of the Council of the Bermuda National Trust, and has served in that position since 2010.

William traces his ancestry in Bermuda back 11 generations. He has a BA in Economics from Queen’s University, Canada and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Leeds, England. He has been employed as a Chartered Accountant by firms now incorporated within PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and also at the Office of the Auditor General in Bermuda.

William completed his Officer Training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Bermuda Regiment. He has both local and international emergency management experience, and was a member of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Co-ordination Team for the Americas and Caribbean. He retired as Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment in 2009, after 24 years’ service.

Akanke Parsons Senior Trust Officer

Akanke is a key member of Omnium Trust Company Limited’s team of specialists having joined in May 2016. She is a Senior Trust Professional charged with the day to day running of Omnium Trust Company Limited. Akanke joins us from Butterfield Trust where she worked for over 8 years having previously worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 17 years. Upon completion of the Management Trainee Program at Butterfield Bank in December 2008, she joined Butterfield Trust and began her upward climb from a Trust Administrator to ultimately becoming a Senior Trust Officer. Akanke is very knowledgeable in the field of Trusts and Estate Planning. Her approachable manner, innovative techniques and awareness of the industry makes it easy for clients to depend on and build a rapport with her, knowing that she has them and their families’ best interests in mind and can be depended on to be proactive, confidential and sensitive. She currently manages a varied portfolio of trusts and liaises with professionals in the investments, banking and corporate industries to effectively administer these trusts.

Akanke received her Bachelors of Science from the Manchester Business School in December 2014. In 2010 she received the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Diploma in International Trust Management.

Randell Woolridge Senior Executive Secretary

Randell is Benedek Lewin’s Senior Executive Secretary and has an impressive wealth of conveyancing experience having worked in the property world for over 20 years. Randell is the eyes and ears of the firm and works hard to ensure that each member of the firm’s property department keeps up to date with their workload.
